CSSTEAP is conducting an International Training Course on "Space Technology for Disaster Management Support with Emphasis on Geological Risk Mitigation"   form 12 April-7 May 2010
 

Venue: IIRS Campus, Dehradun, India


This is a special course of 4 weeks duration covering topics on application of space technology and GIS for geolgical hazard/risk mapping, monitoring, modelling and mitigation strategies. Emphasis would be on prominent disasters of the Asia and Pacific region such as Earthquakes, Landslidies, Tsunami, Mining/subsidence, Erosion, Volcano and GLOF. Issues realated to climate change/ variability impact and mainstreaming of risk reduction strategies in developmenatl planning will also be touched upon. Overall this course will provide hands on experience on space technology such as satellite communication, earth observation (optical/radar), GPS and advance GIS based modelling which together can play a major role in implementation of various national programmes taken up by countries under Hyogo Framework for Action 2005-2015: Building the resilience of nations and communities to disasters (HFA).


This course is likely to be supported by many international agencies and faculty would be both from India and abroad dealing with technical as well as management aspects for geological risk reduction.
