In REMEMBRANCE |
Each one of us came here by leaving all friends and family members. We now return back to our places as proud citizens to our country. We have developed a sense of strong feeling as belonging to IIRS campus because most of the residents are familiar to us. We would feel like leaving home twice over, when we bid goodbye to our friends, faculty, staff and surroundings, all of which we will fondly long for when we go back to our respective places/countries.
We realize the incredible opportunity given to us, now that we look back at nine months of hard work that the course demanded us. We have gained tremendously from our interactions with the faculty from IIRS, more it was a two-way communication, where we had ample opportunity to seek clarifications, present our views and pose our difficulties. Guest lecturers who have shared their invaluable knowledge and experience during their visits inspired us. It is a unique opportunity for us to participate in the 10th Commemoration celebration of CSSTEAP held at New Delhi. Our visit to Space Application Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad gave us a life time opportunity to view India's first mission to moon Chandrayaan-1 Programme, which is expected to be ready for launch by 2008; the view of final designing and packing of Indian high resolution satellite Cartosat-2 and also the view of live satellite tracking, data receiving and preprocessing at Shadnagar, NRSA, Hyderabad. The knowledge imparted to us during the first and second modules was implemented practically during pilot project and fieldwork. The laboratory facilities made us to work in a pleasant way, in odd hours, practically during pilot projects.
Our educational visits to Delhi, Agra, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Ahmedabad and other parts of India has exposed us to tremendous historical heritage, widening our horizon, knowledge, upgrading India's Space Technology capabilities and about natural and cultural diversity of India. Cultural evenings and social events have brought people from different countries, religions, cultures and age groups together as one big family, thus making this course beneficial not only academically, but culturally to all of us.
The international standard of our well-equipped hostel has made our long stay experience extremely comfortable and pleasant. The assistance and cooperation provided by the friendly staff had a crucial role in our daily life. Living in the hostel did make a big difference in our life of this nine-month period, especially in sharing time with others in birthday parties and national day celebrations of our respective countries.
We would like to put on record our thanks to the Department of Space, Government of India, for financing our course. We express our deep sense of gratitude to the United Nations, Government of India, Governments of our respective countries, Chairman ISRO, Dean IIRS as well as Director CSSTEAP, Director NRSA, Course Director, Course Coordinator, Heads of our Divisions, Faculty of the 10th RS and GIS Course, administrative and supporting staff for making it possible for us to complete the course successfully. Special thanks are due to the Vice-Chancellor, Andhra University for providing official recognition to our course.
We hope to maintain and strengthen our ties with CSSTEAP and IIRS in our future endeavors.
