Impression of Participants |
SATCOM IV, they call us by that name but we call ourselves fortunate. Fortunate to confront with a golden opportunity, fortunate to be in glorious India and extremely fortunate to have found a home away from home.
We, 15 participants form 7 different countries met for the first time on 01 Aug 2003. The warm welcome and the outstanding hospitality by Space Applications Centre made us feel one amongst them. Further interaction with the faculty members gave us a glimpse of our 9 months stay. It was definetly not a cake walk for a most of us. In fact few of us discovered the insurmountable opportunity that they have confronted mainly because of the language barrier but thanks to few counterparts from other countries who rendered unconditional help and we walked through the course successfully as a team.
During last 9 months, we have interacted with the elite people of this country as far as technology in space science is concerned. They were very helpful in nature and always took keen interest in imparting knowledge. They were very much aware of the Herculean task of teaching 15 of us primarily because we were different. We were different in every aspect of life. Be it qualification, age or experience. The spectrum was wide and the language of instruction added in the complexity but thanks to CSSTEAP, which started the English classes. Today, each of us can express ourselves clearly and confidently.
The courses started with bang as one of the earlier Director of SAC taught as entire satellite communication in 3 days. Every aspect of the subject was covered in a nutshell and in an organized way. The first few day of class made one thing clear that we could not have asked for a better place than Space Applications Centre for pursuing studies in SATCOM.
During the last nine months, we were provided with excellent training both theoretical and practical. SAC has the entire infrastructure ideal for teaching. The new technical campus at Bopal is fully operational for providing a suitable ambience away form the city for studies. Backing up the outstanding facilities was the expertise available in house to impart the quality training to the participants.
The training faculty were all experts in there own fields and were drawn from all parts of the globe with the only thing common to them was their eminence in their area of specialization. The instructions were imparted in the most professional manner and were comparable to the best at the international level. Our interaction with such an eminent body of scientists and commercial personnel not only broadened our horizons but also set in us a resolve to try and emulates them.
The most memorable part of our stay here is the frequent visit to various parts of this great country. (We had the opportunity to visit most of the important historical places of India) We definitely missed our families during the trips to these places of interest. However, we have captured few of those wonderful moments which, we will carry back home for our families.
As we conclude, the spirits that fills our minds and hearts is one of reverence. We also feel a deep sense of reverence for all those who have directly indirectly contributed in making our stay comfortable, memorable and this course a successful one.
We gratefully acknowledge and are deeply indebted to CSSTEAP and SAC for considering us eligible for the course. We also wish to express our gratitude and appreciation to Director CSSTEAP, Director SAC Director DECU, Directors of all ISRO units, Staff of SAC, Course Director, Course Coordinator, and the entire staff of Bopal SAC campus for their advice, supervision & encouragement during the course of our stay and studies.
